The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has ordered a temporary suspension of aerobatic shows by its Aerial Demonstrations Squadron following a fatal crash.

The accident took place on 2 April in Lages, a city in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, when one of the T-27 Tucano aircraft of the air force’s ‘Smoke Squadron’ crashed into the ground due to unknown causes.

Shows will be suspended until a report of the crash is published by military experts from the air force’s National Center for the Investigation and Prevention of Accidents (Cenipa).

Prior to the accident, six of the aircraft were emitting smoke and drawing figures in the sky, according to Sify.com.

FAB pilot captain Anderson Amaro Fernandes died in the accident.
