Raytheon has received a foreign military sales contract from the US Air Force (USAF), to produce AGM-65D and AGM-65G2 infrared-guided Maverick air-to-surface missiles for the United Arab Emirates.
Under the $170m contract, Raytheon will build and provide life-cycle support for more than 500 new missiles.

Production of the missile’s IR guidance and control sections began in November 2008.
A precision-attack missile, AGM-65 Maverick is certified for use on more than 25 aircraft, including helicopters and fighter, attack and multiplace patrol aircraft.
Equipped with guidance software, Maverick is capable of conducting round-the-clock attacks, against fixed high-value targets, high-speed moving and manoeuvring armoured vehicles, ships and fast boats.
