The US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has awarded a research and development contract to UES.
Under the $22.7m contract, UES will perform research, development and technology transition on advanced metallic and ceramic structure materials for the AFRL.

The AFRL plays a lead role in the discovery, development and integration of warfighting technologies for air, space and cyberspace forces in the US.
UES also performed a research and development programme for the nano and biological materials branch of the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate at AFRL, under a $44.5m contract in September 2009.
