The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded a contract to SELEX Galileo to supply 21 Titan 385ES-HD airborne turrets to enhance the capability of its Chinook SH and SF FLIR fleet.
The contract also includes the upgrade of four existing Chinook Titan 385ES turrets to the HD configuration.
The Titan 385ES-HD is a performance airborne turret equipped with a high-definition SLX Merlin medium waveband infrared camera using Albion thermal imaging technology developed by SELEX under co-funding from the MoD.
The Titan 385ES-HD configuration also includes other sensors in the electro-optic payload that will enhance the capabilities of the Chinook fleet during current operations.
The turrets, worth over £10m, will be delivered between February 2010 and July 2011.
