The Pakistani Air Force has taken delivery of the first F100-PW-229 engine enhancement package (EEP) engine for its F-16 block 52 aircraft from Pratt & Whitney.
The EEP is the latest version of the F100 family of engines that has the capability to provide 29,160lb of thrust.

The new model will help the air force reduce the life-cycle cost related to engine maintenance by up to 30% extending the depot inspection interval from 4,300 to 6,000 TACs.
Pratt & Whitney military business development and aftermarket services vice-president Bill Begert said that the Pakistani Air Force has repeated its decision to continue with Pratt & Whitney as the propulsion for their F-16 fleet.
“Building on the legacy of the F100-PW-220 that has been in operation for more than 25 years, we look forward to providing new F100-PW-229 EEP engine to power their latest purchase of F-16s,” he said.
The Pakistani Air Force recently ordered 18 new F-16 Fighters from Lockheed Martin.
