Indonesia intends to deploy a surveillance drone, known as ‘Puna’, to monitor extremist activity within the country.

Puna is an small unmanned aircraft, which can safely observe hard-to-reach areas, AFP reports.

The small aircraft has been equipped with a camera for surveillance purposes and will be used to monitor terrorist activities as well as forest fires in Indonesia.

The drone will be deployed in an effort to guard against new Islamist attacks following the killing and arrests of extremists led by slain Malaysian Noordin Mohammed Top.
