EADS has been awarded a contract by the US Air Force to provide support and sustainment to the air force’s Eagle Vision data acquisition segment.

Eagle Vision is a deployable ground station used to process imagery received directly from commercial satellite platforms.

The system provides multispectral, broad-area coverage imagery to support aviation mission planners, topographic units and intelligence analysts that can readily be supplied to commanders without delay.

The mobile ground station was originally developed to receive imagery from the French SPOT satellite system, but has been upgraded to downlink imagery from the US Landsat, the Canadian Radarsat and European and Indian imaging satellites.

The $99m contract will be managed by Hanscom Air Force Base.
