MADL is a high data rate, low-probability-of-intercept (LPI) and low-probability-of-detection (LPD) communications link that allows coordinated tactics and engagement capabilities between low-observable platforms.

Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector Network Communication Systems vice president Roger Fujii said the MADL has been designed to meet the demanding requirements of the F-35 warfighter in LPI, LPD and high-jamming situations, when you don’t want to be seen or heard.
“This contract is an important step for the US Department of Defense (DoD) to develop enhanced MADL capabilities to meet the additional enterprise needs for multiple defence platforms and advanced airborne networking,” he added.
The MADL has been approved for all low-observable platforms by the DoD’s joint requirements oversight council.
