The US Department of Defense is considering a deal to supply air-to-air missiles and associated support services to Jordan under a $131m foreign military sales programme.
The proposed sale comprise 85 AIM-120C-7 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles, six 120C Captive Air Training Missiles, missile containers, spare and repair parts, support and test equipment.
In addition, the deal will include technical documentation, personnel training and training equipment, contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services, and other associated support elements.
Jordan will use the equipment to strengthen its defence capability and fight regional threats in the region.
The US believes the proposed sale will enhance foreign policy and national security by improving the security of a key ally in the Middle East.
The prime contractor will be the Raytheon Corporation of Tucson, Arizona.
