The US Air Force’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) task force has revealed a new coordinated strategy for its integration across all core air force functions.

The Air Force UAS flight plan outlines a common vision and the first steps needed to optimise the use of UAS with regards to the growing demand in the joint forces.

UAS Task Force director Eric Mathewson said that the notion of the UAS as a separate, minor air force capability must change.

“In order for UAS to be institutionalised, they must be integrated into air force programmes, plans, processes and culture,” he said.

The plan merges the capabilities of the UAS with air force core functions and joint force priorities.
