French Air Force Rafale fighters fitted with TDA 68mm rocket pods that could support Afghanistan missions have been put on display by Dassalt Aviation at the Paris Air Show.

The fitted-up Rafales show the possibility of equipment fits for future Afghanistan missions.

Early tests have already been conducted with the new rocket pod fit that will be positioned in the aircraft’s third under-wing weapons station.

The equipment fit still needs to be adjusted to the new Nato standards that will be announced by end of 2009 and still needs to be adapted for the unique Afghanistan context.

The French Air Force and Navy are set to acquire about 300 Rafales in future.
