An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) risk reduction study by EADS Defence & Security to develop a tri-national advanced UAV for Germany, France and Spain was recently concluded.

The study will help in delivering a customised solution capable of satisfying the common needs for an advanced UAV for the three countries.

The advanced UAV project will offer the nations operational flexibility, identify critical security hot spots at home or abroad, and will provide autonomy from third parties’ equipment and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance results.

The twin-jet UAV will incorporate the most modern, modular sensor suite and data links vital for sustainable and reliable intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance missions.

The study commenced in 2007.
