The Tactical Satellite-3 (TacSat-3) has been launched from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility to provide information and imagery to the US Air force .

The satellite will offer real-time imagery within ten minutes of collection. It will also collect and convey sea-based information transmitted from ocean buoys. It will assist the warfighter with plug-and-play avionics to stay ahead of the enemy.

It also houses a satellite communications package for Office of Naval Research and the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Space Avionics Experiment.

Additionally, three cubesats are a part of the secondary payloads that are placed in the Poly Picosatellite Orbital Deployer.

The programme is a joint effort by the Air Force Research Laboratory, Army Space and Missile Defense Command, Air Force Space and Missile Systems, the Department of Defense, and the Office of Naval Research.

TacSat-3 spacecraft has been deployed in its targeted orbit of about 285 miles from the earth.
