Russian Air Force AN-30B aircraft will conduct observation flights over Lithuania and other states of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) under the international Treaty on Open Skies.
The observation flights, to be conducted in collaboration with Belarus, are aimed at verifying if arms controls in force are observed in the visited state.
The Treaty on Open Skies regulates observation flights over territories of other participating states and stipulates the order of information exchange among the states and of completion of joint missions.
The treaty is an international arms control instrument invoking actual measures to increase transparency and openness among the states in the military sector.
