Data Link Solutions (DLS) has been awarded a direct commercial contract to provide multifunctional information distribution system low-volume terminals (MIDS-LVT) for Bulgaria, Lithuania and Romania.

MIDS-LVT terminals have been developed by a multinational consortium to provide Link 16 capability for real-time data communications, situational awareness and navigation.

Link 16 also provides digital voice and tactical air navigation (TACAN) in a jam-resistant, crypto-secured package.

DLS director Heather Neff said, “This contract broadens DLS’s base into Nato and allows the coalition warfighter access to a vital tactical data link that provides unsurpassed situational awareness.”

The contract awarded by Nato Air Command and Control System Management Agency (NACMA) is scheduled for delivery in early 2012.
