The Russian Air Force has received the second batch of Mi-8AMTSh transport helicopters under the Government Defence Order (GDO) 2011.

Following the scheduled delivery, the helicopters completed preparation procedures to perform ferry flights to the air force military units.

The helicopters will improve operations efficiency of Russian troops in combat scenarios.

Russia will continue to receive the helicopters in the second half of 2011, and is mulling a long-term GDO with Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant (UUAP).

UUAP, a part of Russian Helicopters holding, delivered the first batch in December 2010.
