The US and Poland have signed a memorandum on the deployment of US aircraft and training staff to help bolster the country’s military capacity, Poland’s Defence Minister Bogdan Klich has said.
“This agreement brings with it something new, namely the permanent presence of US soldiers on Polish soil from 2018,” he added.
According to the agreement, US F-16 aircraft and C-130 transport aircraft will be deployed on a four-year rotational basis to Poland from 2013.
The US has also planned for four rotations of the unarmed training batteries of US Patriot missiles in Poland this year.
The Nato alliance currently operates a fleet of 48 F-16 aircraft as well as an F-16 base located in Lask, Poznan, Poland, according to Agence France Presse.
