The Republic of Korean Air Force is planning to deploy a more heavily armed version of the T-50 Golden Eagle aircraft, named FA-50.
The FA-50 is a multi-role fighter jet intended to replace F-5E/F aircraft and is similar to the KF-16 jet.

The nation also has plans to deploy about 20 new TA-50 aircraft, which is the first armed version of its T-50 supersonic trainer jet, by the first half of next year.
The TA-50 has been designed to carry out lead-in fighter training missions with home-grown jets, while also acting as a fully fledged attack platform.
The aircraft is equipped with AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles and TGM-65 Maverick air-to-ground missiles to perform light attack roles, according to Yonhap News.
