The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of a potential foreign military sale of AIM-9X-2 Sidewinder missiles to Morocco.

Under the estimated $50m sale, Morocco has requested 20 Sidewinder missiles, ten CATM-9X-2 captive air training missiles all-up-round block II missiles and eight CATM-9X-2 block II missile guidance units.

The package also includes eight AIM-9X-2 block II tactical guidance units, two dummy air training missiles, containers, missile support and test equipment, spare and repair parts, and other related support.

The AIM-9X missiles will greatly enhance the Royal Moroccan Air Force in modernising its fighter aircraft to better support its own air defence needs.

Raytheon Missile Systems will be the prime contractor.
