Boeing has been awarded a $962.5m firm-fixed-price delivery contract against the basic C-17 Globemaster III production contract for the procurement of five C-17 aircraft for the US Air Force (USAF).

An initial obligatory amount of $471.6m has already been awarded to the company as part of the total contract.

The C-17 Globemaster III is a high-wing, four-engine, T-tailed military transport vehicle capable of transporting large payloads across a broad range of platforms without refuelling, and is capable of operating in extreme hot and cold weather conditions.

The airlifter is equipped with BAE Systems Integrated Defense Solutions’ AN/ALE-47 countermeasure flare dispensers and the ATK AN/AAR-47 missile warning system.

The US ASC/WLMK, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will be contracting activity.
