Kaman Aerospace Group has received an order from US Air Force (USAF) for bomb fuses for aerial weapons.

The $23.8m order brings the volume of orders received for joint programmable fuses (JPF) in the last 12 months to $150m.

Work will be carried out at the company’s facilities in Middletown and Orlando, Florida, US, with deliveries expected in 2012 and 2013.

The JPF is an electro-mechanical bomb safety and arming device that allows the settings of a weapon to be programmed in flight.

It can be used with a number of weapons, including general purpose bombs and guided bombs.

Kaman is the sole provider of the JPF to the USAF and 18 other nations.
