IRIAF deputy commander Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh said the precision tools of the Qassed-3 smart bomb and its operational range had been extended to hit targets precisely.

“This weapon, which is used for fighter jets, is in the testing stage and we will announce this new achievement to the public after identifying the exact range of the bomb,” he added.

The 2,000lb laser-guided smart bomb, Qassed-1, was successfully tested by F-4 and F-5 fighter jets in 2006, while the second generation of Qassed bombs is in production and has a range of about 50km, reports Press TV.
