The Royal Thai Air Force has purchased an Aerostar unmanned air vehicle system from Aeronautics Defense Systems.

The Aerostar is 4.5m long with a wingspan of 7.5m, has a 12-hour endurance and a loiter speed of 60kt (110km/h).

The Aerostar can perform various missions such as target acquisition, artillery fire adjustment, targets designation, and battlefield and borders control.

The Thai Air Force selected the Israeli design after assessing its need for a UAV capability in 2009, reports Flightglobal.

The Israel-based defense solutions provider is expected to supply more weapon systems to the Royal Thai Air Force in the near future.
