The US Air Force has signed a contract with MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates to upgrade its mobile ground system software under the Eagle Vision Program.

The solution will allow the Air Force to receive and process imagery from the constellation of RapidEye satellites.

The addition of the RapidEye capability expands MDA’s existing multi-sensor offering to the USAF, which includes data access from the Radarsat-2 satellite since May 2009.

RapidEye is a constellation of five light weight Earth Observation small satellites to image any point on the Earth, which provides the ability to monitor changes at any location of interest.

MDA’s solutions allow the USAF to provide near real-time in-theatre access to essential image data in support of the warfighter.
