BAE Systems has signed an agreement to lead a team offering a training aircraft availability service solution for UK armed forces.

The team will include Gama Group, Babcock Aerospace and Pilatus Aircraft.

The team will bid to be the fixed-wing aircraft service provider (ASP) for the UK military flying training system (MFTS) programme.

Under the MFTS, the UK Ministry of Defence will require a range of aircraft platforms and systems to train aircrew across the navy, army and air force.

The BAE team will offer basic and multiengine aircrew training platforms to the UK MFTS fixed-wing programme for 25 years.

BAE will work with its partners to submit a proposal to Ascent in January 2011.
