Kratos RT Logic has delivered a virtual machine software satellite ground communications solution to replace the traditional command and control technology for Boeing’s Global SATCOM Configuration Control Element (GSCCE) evolution programme.

The virtual solution commands the payload of the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellites.

Under the terms of the deal, Kratos RT Logic has delivered virtual machine software versions of the company’s Front End Processor (vFEP) and Gateway (vGTW) systems.

The two systems are installed and run on virtual machines (VMs) on customer-supplied classified and unclassified commercial rack-mounted blade servers.

As part of the project, Kratos has delivered 40 vFEPs and 40 vGTW installations that allows for the control of a fleet of up to 14 satellites from five different operation centres that support 28 varied command and control missions.

Using the virtual machine software products, the company is leveraging its information assurance (IA) hardening service to provide an integrated security solution that would help address the demanding requirements of the US Department of Defense (DoD) mission systems.
