Boeing has received three foreign military sales (FMS) contracts worth $800m to support the Qatar Emiri Air Force (QEAF).

The contracts with the US Air Force (USAF) involves providing training services and support in the Middle East.

Under the first contract, Boeing will provide support to the QEAF for the F-15QA programme management, maintenance and aircrew training. The $240m contract is valid for a period of five years.

Boeing will supply maintenance and logistics support for the QEAF as part of the second contract. The not-to-exceed award has a maximum value of $68m.

Work will be carried out during the F-15QA aircraft’s pre-delivery training, which is scheduled to begin next year.

Pilots and weapon system operators from the QEAF will be sent to the US. The aircrews will be taught to independently operate the aircraft.

Training will be carried out at the F-15 production facility of Boeing and includes in-person instruction, simulation events and flying operations.

After the training, the company plans to set up and operate an aircrew and maintenance training centre at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, until 2024.

Valued at over $500m, the third contract was awarded in November. Under the contract, Boeing will provide in-country spares and logistics support to QEAF after the aircraft delivery.

Boeing plans to commence the delivery of the 36 F-15QA aircraft to Qatar from next year.

In 2016, the US gave clearance to a potential FMS of F-15QA aircraft to Qatar for $21.1bn.
