The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress of a possible foreign military sale (FMS) of AH-1Z attack helicopters to Bahrain.
With an estimated cost of $911.4m, the proposed sale has been requested by the Government of Bahrain and has been approved by the US State Department.

The possible deal will cover the sale of 12 AH-1Z attack helicopters, 26 T-700 GE 401C engines, 14 AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and 56 Advance Precision Kill Weapon System II (APKWS-II) WGU-59Bs.
Under the probable FMS, Bahrain has also requested 15 Honeywell embedded global positioning system (GPS) inertial navigation systems (INS) (EGI) with standard positioning service (SPS), 12 joint mission planning systems, 12 M197 20mm gun systems, 30 tech refresh mission computers, and 14 AN/AAQ-30 target sight systems.
The deal also includes the possible procurement of 26 helmet-mounted displays / optimised top owls, communication equipment, electronic warfare systems, 15 APX-117 Identification Friend or Foe (IFF), 15 AN/AAR-47 missile warning systems, 15 AN/ALE-47 countermeasure dispenser sets, and 15 APR-39C(V)2 radar warning receivers.
Focused on enhancing the capability of the Royal Bahraini Air Force to meet current and future threats, the possible FMS also includes engineering, technical and logistics support services for the US Government and contractor, as well as other related elements of logistics and programme support.
