The Israel Missile Defence Organisation (IMDO) and the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) have completed the fourth series of tests of the David’s Sling weapon system (DSWS) at a test range in southern Israel.
Designated as David’s Sling Test-4 (DST-4), the tests evaluated the system’s capabilities and performance marking the final milestone before its scheduled delivery to the Israeli Air Force (IAF) next year.

The test involved the launch of the Stunner interceptor which performed all flight phases, and engaged the target as planned.
MDA said in a statement: "During the test multi-mission radar (MMR) detected the target after launch and transferred flight information to the Battle Management Center (BMC), which calculated the defence plan.
"This test series provides confidence in future Israeli capabilities to defend against large calibre rockets and other developing threats."
MDA has revealed that the information collected will be used for further development and fielding of the DSWS after a review by programme engineers.

By GlobalDataThe DSWS is a surface-to-air missile system designed to intercept medium-to-long-range rockets and cruise missiles, fired at ranges from 40km to 300km.
The system has its own interception management centre, where the operators would launch orders on future interceptions of aerial threats.
Moreover, the missiles can broadcast real-time sensory information and it is also expected to be linked up to the Home Front Command’s command and control systems, which provide civilian projectile alerts and information to air defence systems.
In April, the system completed its operational testing and is expected to enter service as early as next year.
