Kratos Defense & Security Solutions’ wholly owned subsidiary Composite Engineering has secured a contract to supply additional air force subscale aerial target (AFSAT) production target aircraft for the US Air Force (USAF).

Valued at $18m, the contract will see the company supplying lot 12 of the previously awarded lots 11-13 production contract for AFSAT aircraft.

Kratos Unmanned Systems Division president Jerry Beaman said: "We are proud that the Air Force is continuing our partnership by exercising this option for an additional production lot.

The deal will see Composite Engineering provide high performance aerial targets and technical support, working alongside Micro System which will be responsible for supplying majority of the high performance avionics utilised on the targets.

The new target systems are currently operational in the US and allied militaries around the globe.
