Comtech Telecommunications has announced the award of a contract from the US Government to provide satellite communications infrastructure equipment.
Valued at $1.6m and awarded to the company’s Arizona-based subsidiary Comtech EF Data, the contract requires the company to provide up and down frequency converters to be installed in satellite communications infrastructure which will be deployed in a government network.

Comtech Telecommunications CEO and president Dr Stanton Sloane said: "These orders demonstrate the US government’s confidence in Comtech to supply field-proven infrastructure products to support mission-critical applications."
In 2011, Comtech Xicom Technology secured a delivery order for Ka-band power amplifiers for the US Air Force (USAF) satellite communications network expansion.
The Ka-band antenna-mount amplifiers received under the contract will be used in transportable USAF satellite terminals and will expand on the existing USAF military satellite communications network.
The amplifiers, which are suitable for global command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) services, feature high linear power.
