The fifth-generation P5 combat trainer has been developed by Cubic Defense Applications and principal subcontractor, DRS Technologies.

It provides real-time training for air-to-air, air-to-ground and surface-to-air combat missions by recording mission data, and relay time, as well as space and positioning information between participating aircraft during training sorties.

The GPS-enabled aircraft-mounted airborne instrumentation packages and ground stations will help aircrew to conduct, monitor and control air combat training and post-flight debriefing. It will also give it the flexibility to carry out, anywhere, anytime training capabilities.
