Information technology services provider Data Computer Corporation of America (DCCA) has secured a contract to modernise the main communication system of the US Air Force (USAF).

Under the terms of the deal, the company will upgrade the system to an Internet Protocol v6 (IPv6) network as part of the Western Range Modernisation Network initiative.

The modernisation programme is aimed at transforming the launch and test range system’s communication subsystem to an IPv6 format.

"This programme will help transition the USAF’s communications network to a more modern platform."

The upgrade will be undertaken at four military facilities including Vandenberg Air Force Base Pillar, Point Air Force Station, Point Mugu, and Santa Ynez Peak, all located in California, US.

Currently, the system operates on an asynchronous transfer mode network.

Based in the US, DCCA provides a wide range of technology support such as the systems development, cyber security, cloud computing, data analytics, and testing services to defence as well as Federal Agencies.

The company is also opening an office in Santa Maria, California, to offer more efficient and effective service to the Air Force customer.
