The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified congress of the potential foreign military sale to continue F-16 logistics support services to Oman.

Under the estimated $260m sale, Oman seeks follow-on support for its existing F-16 fleet that includes support equipment, communications equipment, personnel training, and spare and repair parts.

The sale also covers Electronic Combat International Security Assistance Program (ECISAP), Contractor Engineer Technical Services (CETS), Technical Coordination Group (TCG), International Engine Management Program (IEMP), Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) calibration and technical orders.

The proposed sale of support services, which can be easily integrated into Oman’s armed forces, will enhance the reliability and performance of the Royal Air Force of Oman’s F-16 aircraft.

Lockheed Martin Aero, ITT, BAE Systems, Honeywell, Northrop Grumman, Marvin Engineering, Lockheed Martin Missile and Fire Control and Goodrich Corporation will serve as prime contractors for the sale.

The air forces of nearly 25 nations are using the aircraft, which features advanced aerodynamics and avionics.

The aircraft comes with frameless bubble canopy, side-mounted control stick, a seat reclined 30 degrees and a relaxed static stability / fly-by-wire flight control system.
