Communications products firm Vocality has supported Brazilian air traffic control communications, under a partnership with RSA Engineering.
The company replaced the outdated satellite communications system at the Material Park of Aeronautics of Rio de Janeiro (PAME-RJ) which provides voice and data services to Air Force Command (COMAER) through 111 stations installed throughout the national Brazilian territory.

The PAME-RJ is in need of increased capacity for the data load requirements that have grown exponentially since 2000.
The new satellite modems using Vocality’s technology reduced the satellite bandwidth used by each station by 90%.
This updated system has the ability to support up to ten times more data, without increasing satellite bandwidth requirements.

The smart remote monitoring and control capability reduced the need for on-site technicians for more than 80% of the maintenance procedures.
The overall savings derived from the Vocality-based optimisations such as reduced bandwidth and remote system management will provide PAME-RJ with a two-year full return on investment.
