BAE Systems is providing operational maintenance to the Royal Australian Air Force’s (RAAF) Hawk 127 Lead-In Fighter fleet.
The support is being provided at RAAF bases in Williamtown and Pearce where Australia’s combat aircrew is trained.

The company will deliver maintenance support on the flight line which includes aircraft launch and recovery, rectifications, life support, stores and mission equipment, on-site management support and deployed operations.
BAE Systems Australia Aerospace director Steve Drury said: "For over 15 years, our company has demonstrated its deeper maintenance know-how for the nation’s fast jet training capability.
"Now, BAE Systems is the total sustainment provider for the Hawk fleet, managing both deeper and operational maintenance.
"We have expanded our skills and expertise to deliver this combined sustainment role, hiring new aircraft technicians, team leaders and maintenance support staff.

116 new jobs have been created as BAE Systems starts providing operational maintenance, which was previously provided by the RAAF’s 76 and 79 Squadrons.
The two-seat Hawk 127 jet aircraft is used for initial training to prepare aircrew for operational conversion to the F/A-18 Hornet.
Since 2001, more than 180 BAE Systems personnel have been employed to provide sustainment for the RAAF’s fleet of 33 aircraft at Williamtown and Pearce.
