iGov has received a tactical air control party mobile communications system (TACP-MCS) delivery order from the US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC).

Valued at around $52m, the order requires the company to modify high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicles (HMMWVs) for tactical air control party users.

Work under the contract includes outfitting HMMWVs with software and systems for critical voice, data, and video communications.

It will be carried out at iGov’s facility in Tampa, Florida, with planned completion in January 2021.

Using mobile communications system, joint terminal attack controllers (JTACs) will be able to control close air support (CAS) aircraft from the safety of an armoured vehicle while coordinating and conducting joint CAS missions.

iGov business development vice-president Chuck Reiche said: “The Air Force Battle Management Directorate made it pretty clear that they desired a mature solution.
