HFGCS-PRS is one of 13 high-powered, high-frequency stations across the world which make up the USAF’s Command and Control (C2) network.

USAF's HFGCS is a network of single sideband shortwave transmitters which is used to communicate with aircraft in flight, ground stations, and some US Navy surface assets.

This is used to place telephone calls from the aircraft in flight via the Defense Switched Network (DSN) to an air force base to obtain local weather conditions, to arrange for refuelling, and to inform the base of the number of passengers and crew.

All receiving and transmitting sites in the HF-GCS system across the globe are remotely controlled from Andrews Air Force Base and Grand Forks Air Force Base.
