The US Air Force's (USAF) Air Reserve Component, 433rd Airlift Wing (AW), is set to receive a new C-5M Super Galaxy aircraft.
With USAF serial number 87-0038, company number 124, the Lockheed Martin-built aircraft was delivered by Lockheed Martin from its facility in Marietta, Georgia.

This new aircraft will be assigned to the 433rd AW, the USAF Reserve Command unit located at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, US.
Lockheed said that this aircraft will be the fourth C-5M assigned to Lackland. The strategic transport aircraft is a modernised version of the legacy C-5.
Earlier, this C-5M aircraft was assigned to Westover Air Reserve Base, Massachusetts, and flew to Stewart Air National Guard Base in New York.
It underwent interior paint restoration and received its new Texas state flag tail flash before its final delivery.

By GlobalDataC-5M Super Galaxy was ferried by an Air Force Reserve Command aircrew led by James Fontanella, the commander of the Force Generation Center (FCG) at Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base in Georgia.
In December 1988, the aircraft was originally delivered to the USAF as a C-5B and had recorded about 18,950 flight hours.
The C-5M Super Galaxy aircraft has been designed to extend the capability of the C-5 fleet to remain in service until 2040.
It has a capacity to carry more cargo to longer distances, and a payload of six mine resistant ambush protected vehicles (MRAPs) or up to five helicopters.
