The French Defence Procurement and Technology Agency (DGA) has recommended Babcock France for contract to provide and maintain a training platform and related services for the French Air Force.
The recommendation follows a competitive bid process and Babcock's share of the contract is expected to be more than €400m.

The contract forms a part of the French Ministry of Defence's Fomedec programme, which focuses on the replacement of existing aircraft and ground facilities, as well as enabling aviation activity on additional training aircraft.
Under the programme, France will acquire a fleet of aircraft, simulation of ground facilities and associated infrastructure.
Babcock said that it is currently in advanced discussions with an undisclosed French industrial partner regarding the execution of the 11-year contract.
The contract covers new training aircraft, related simulators and modernised training facilities for the training of fighter jet crews to be performed by the air force.
