The A-10 OFP contract was awarded under the Design and Engineering Support Program (DESP) III indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity (ID / IQ) contract.

Diligent Consulting COO Rick Riney said: "With the A-10's rich history of providing close air support, its combination of large and varied ordnance load, long loiter time, accurate weapons delivery, austere field capability, and survivability, it has proven invaluable to the US and its allies.”

The A-10 OFP is an embedded avionics weapons system programme that is aimed at supporting software sustainment activities for the aircraft's avionics command and control, weapons, and sensor platforms.

Diligent will employ different software engineering technologies to develop system and subsystem designs which include operational, supporting, and utility software; manual and automated test procedures; configuration management; data archiving, and product delivery.

"It has proven invaluable to the US and its allies."

Built by Fairchild Republic, the A-10 Thunderbolt II is a twin-engine jet aircraft that has been designed for close air support of ground forces.

Powered by two General Electric TF34-GE-100 turbofans, the aircraft can be used against all ground targets, including tanks and other armoured vehicles.

It has night vision imaging systems, goggle compatible single-seat cockpits forward of their wings and a large bubble canopy that provides pilots all-around vision.
