Canada-based Bluedrop Training and Simulation has secured a contract from KF Aerospace Defence Programs to support the Royal Canadian Air Force's (RCAF) contracted flying training and support (CFTS) programme.

Worth more than $5.5m, the contract requires the company to deliver a new Bell 206 Level 7 flight training device (FTD) to support the RCAF's primary, rotary wing and multi-engine pilot training until 2027.

Equipped with a 220° field of view visual system and 6-DOF cueing and vibration systems, the FTD will be used for training helicopter pilots in the RCAF.

This flight training simulator will be installed at the CFTS training centre in Southport, Manitoba.

The KF Aerospace-led flight training programme is also supported by Canadian Helicopters and Canadian Base Operators.

Under the 22-year, $1.77bn CFTS contract, KF Aerospace team will provide the Grob G120A aircraft for primary and basic flying training, as well as the Raytheon King Air C90B for advanced multi-engine flying training.

It will also convert the Bell 206 Jet Ranger and Bell 412 Griffon helicopters from Canadian Forces inventory for advanced helicopter flying training.
