Vectrus Systems has secured a contract from the US Air Force (USAF) to provide base operations support services at Keesler Air Force Base (AFB) in Mississippi.

The seven-year, firm-fixed-price contract is valued at $97m.

Vectrus will offer installation and mission operations management, installation and facility engineering, emergency response management and grounds maintenance at Keesler AFB under the arrangement.

The contract also covers supply and community services, vertical transportation equipment, human resources support, and weather services.

Keesler AFB is home to the 81st Training Wing and is known as the USAF Electronics Training Center of Excellence.

The base is also home to 2nd Air Force, 403rd Wing (Hurricane Hunters), Mathies Noncommissioned Officer Academy and the 85th Engineering Installation Squadron.

Keesler AFB's training centre is capable of handling more than 28,000 students every year.

The US Army initially contracted Vectrus Systems in April to provide a full range of operations and maintenance, IT support and supply services to the US Army Europe, US European Command, and US Africa Command areas of responsibility.

The $115m Operations, Maintenance and Supply – Europe (OPMAS-E) contract has an eight-month base period and four additional one-year option periods.
