Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group has secured a contract with the Bangladesh Air Force to support the C-130J Super Hercules aircraft.

The company has received the contract in accordance with a government-to-government agreement that was entered last year for the acquisition of the former Royal Air Force (RAF) C-130J aircraft by Bangladesh from the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Under the terms of the current multi-year contract, Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group will be responsible for providing a complete support solution to the Bangladesh Air Force jet.

Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group chief executive officer Alistair McPhee said: “We are delighted to have secured this important contract with the Bangladesh Air Force in close cooperation with the UK MoD’s Defence Equipment Sales Authority.

The scope of the project covers aircraft maintenance and logistics support, including the provision of spare parts and ground support equipment for supporting local capabilities. It also includes other engineering services for the better operation of the aircraft fleet.

The company will be responsible for upgrading and modifying the aircraft, which includes the design, development and installation of a medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) capability that allows the airforce to conduct major tasks within the country and overseas, providing support to United Nations (UN) missions.

The company will deliver in-country technical support to the aircraft operator for an initial period, as well as specific technical services to support the long-term sustainment of the C-130J aircraft.
