The US State Department has approved a possible foreign military sale of AGM-84H standoff land attack missile expanded response (SLAM-ER) Missiles to Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO).

The sale includes 135 missiles and related equipment for a total estimated value of $1.008bn.

Under the deal, TERCO requested the sale of 135 SLAM-ER missiles, four ATM-84H SLAM-ER telemetry missiles and 12 CATM-84H captive air training missiles (CATM).

Additionally, the proposed sale package includes 151 containers, spare and repair parts, support and test equipment, and other related support.

Boeing will act as the principal contractor.

In a separate development, the department approved a sale of 11 high mobility artillery rocket systems (HIMARS) M142 launchers and related equipment to TERCO. It is estimated to cost $436.1m.

Additionally, approval has been granted for the sale of six MS-110 Recce Pods and related equipment to TERCO for $367.2m.

The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has also notified Congress about all the sales.

The DSCA said in a statement: “This proposed sale serves US national, economic, and security interests by supporting the recipient’s continuing efforts to modernise its armed forces and to maintain a credible defensive capability.

“The proposed sale will help improve the security of the recipient and assist in maintaining political stability, military balance, economic and progress in the region.”
