The Australian Air Force has reformed number 4 Squadron at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) base in Williamtown, New South Wales, to step-up the air/land coordination capability of the Australian Defence Force.

The squadron will train Forward Air Controllers (FAC) to line up the delivery of air weapons and move toward operational areas.

The FAC provide a vital link between aircraft and ground troops and will give information on the battle space.

The reformed squadron constitutes about 60 personnel and will operate four PC-9 aircrafts.
