The US Defense Department has notified Congress of Australia’s request to continue participation in the US Air Force/Boeing Globemaster III Sustainment Partnership.

The $300m GSP programme supports Australia’s fleet of four Boeing C-17A Globemaster III cargo aircraft, contractor technical and logistics personnel services, support equipment, spare and repair parts and other related elements of logistics support.

The programme will ensure that Australia, an important US ally, can effectively maintain its current fleet, which has seen service in support of Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

The lead contractor for the proposed sale of support and equipment will be Boeing Integrated Defense Systems based in St Louis, Missouri.

The extended programme will require ten US Government and contractor representatives to participate in programme management and technical reviews for two-week intervals annually as well as to provide in country services throughout the life of the contract.
