The US Air Force has awarded a contract to motion tracking technology provider Intersense to develop an autonomous motion tracking system that integrates with commercial off-the-shelf networked, wearable computers for simulated training missions.

Advantages of the training tool include large volume, enclosed simulation environments and wearable computing devices, enabling the trainees to know the exact location of other players and devices in the simulation process.

The advanced immersive display system will incorporate natural features to provide more realistic and easily fielded wireless tracking in virtual reality interaction environments.

The company has already delivered a wireless and networkable motion sensing system that can track and locate the soldiers and devices in the reality training sessions under the project’s phase I contract.

The recent contract received by the company is the project’s Phase II Small Business Innovation Research contract.
