General Dynamics has been awarded a $17m contract to build nine combat operations centre (COC) capability set III systems for the US Marine Corps (USMC).
The combat operations centres will be a part of the development of processing and display subsystems for the new Marine Corps common aviation command and control system (CAC2S).

The CAC2S will establish improved coordination among aviation assault and close air support and marines on the ground.
General Dynamics C4 Systems battle management systems vice president and general manager Manny Mora said the common baseline for processing and display of command and control information will ensure full interoperability between the marines.
The COCs are currently supporting operations at the battalion, squadron, regiment, group and marine expeditionary brigade levels in Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries.
