The Singaporean Government has asked the US to continue training its F-16C pilots at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona and to also purchase support equipment for the country’s fleet.

Singapore, due to space constraints, has been training pilots to fly its squadron of over 62 F16s at the air force base for over 17 years.

Under the deal, the country has requested the US continue its F-16C/D pilot proficiency training programme and has also asked the US to purchase munitions, services and support estimated to cost in the region of $250m.

Singapore is also requesting the US undertakes the training programme at Springfield Air National Guard Base in Ohio involving leased F-16 aircraft from the US Air Force, which is estimated to cost $75m.
